I AM Epworth joined I AM Zimbabwe in August 2017, and we are now in our third years of operating in Epworth. Our main goal is to change the face of Epworth through high quality programs snd awareness campaigns against social ills such as child prostitution (sex work), early marriage and drug and substance abuse. As many people are aware, Epworth is a well known most hotspot for social ills, with illegal structures and squatters prevalent in the community. We want to impact the new generation by participating in the development of infrastructure and peace building activities. These activities include cleanup campaigns, awareness campaigns and healing & training workshops. This year, our Ladies Hub conducted empowerment workshops with young girls, and we also opened an Early Childhood Development Program (ECD) to provide free education for orphans and vulnerable children.
In terms of COVID-19 Relief, I AM Epworth donated food hampers to the ECD children and their families through the GoFundMe Covid-19 Relief Fund. Additionally, we distributed face masks, distributed posters and spread awareness on protection from coronavirus to the elderly. We continue to participate in these activities as we strive to protect the community from the spread of coronavirus.
