I AM Zim Update August 6 2020

  • by

Greetings friends,

Today, the hard working team at I AM Mbare (led by founder Edward Tsango) distributed another 300 food parcels to the Mbare community, with assistance from friend of the organization, Kumbi Kasambira. As was the goal, distribution today focused mainly on the elderly and the disabled members of the community.

Below is a brief description of the process for distribution:
1. The I AM Mbare team travel from house to house (on foot) with the aim of identifying those who are most in need.
2. Names of each family are recorded and a designated time for food pick up is given, to ensure social distancing.
3. Families arrive at their designated time, show their ID’s, sign their names and receive their parcels.

The above process ensures that the most vulnerable in the community receive the food and it also ensures that every family receives food only one time. Pictures of the distribution can be found here:

As you will see from the pictures and videos, we once again had a very large group of people congregate despite the plan for staggered distribution. Many people joined the distribution line even though their names were not listed because people are hungry and desperate. These people unfortunately had to be turned away.

To date, we have spent $7246 to feed 600 families. We now only have $763 left in our fund and are praying for at least $2000 more to enable us to feed at 300 – 400 more families. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your support. Please continue to share our campaign far and wide. Please also reach out to me if you would like to know more about the history of I AM Mbare, and the ongoing work that they do in the community.

Have a safe weekend and may God continue to watch over you and your loved ones.
