I AM Zim Update May 13 2020

Hello friends,

Today the volunteer staff at I AM Mbare, were able to distribute mealie meal, oil and sugar to 230 vulnerable families. My mom, Mrs. Kasambira, was also able to join and assist for a short period of time. As was the intent, those who received food today are the guardians and/or caregivers of the children who attend our school in Mbare. Although the distribution was successful, it was also quite emotional for the team because many elderly residents (who are not connected to the school) also came to receive food and were heartbroken when they had to leave empty handed (many actually began to cry as they shared how hungry and desperate they were). They were assured that they would be called back at a later date if more food became available.

50 food parcels were delivered to Epworth, another community where our second early childhood program for orphans and vulnerable children is located. The volunteer team at I AM Epworth will distribute the food parcels to these families on Friday.

On Saturday, Edward and his team will hand deliver 20 food parcels to families who were unable to come and pick them up today. This will be a wonderful opportunity for the team to check on how the children themselves are doing.

The families were incredibly grateful for the food and asked us to thank everyone who made the distribution possible. I have uploaded a video of my mom and a team member showing the food that your donations purchased, and have uploaded the pictures to an album on Shutterfly:

The need in the community is still so desperately high, so please continue to share our fundraiser so that can buy additional food to feed those in the community whom we had to turn away.

Thank you again for your kindness. We could not have accomplished this mission without you.
